We also save the seeds so we can sow them the following year, we usually save tomato seeds, peppers, watermelons, melons, parsley, lettuce..., saving seeds is also a way of saving money, as we won't have to buy them to sow.
Some farmers take it a step further by even selling the seeds out. You run a backyard farm that saves you cost of food and still make money selling the seed.
