Re: Plan meat-free days.

For sometime now, I have been using eggs as my primary source of protein. They are cheaper than meat and serve the same purpose.

I applaud all of you who can go totally meat-free. I do have a couple of days meat-free, but not totally.

Some days, I just abstain from meat and use peanut butter as my protein source. I can use it for rice and other carbohydrates.

Meat free days would be difficult for some people but it is easy to achieve if you are committed to cutting cost at least two days in a week.

It would only be difficult for people who are so used to luxury and have failed to adapt. I have meat free days.

Today, I am actually celebrating Meatless Monday!

I am having 2 portions of 5 scrambled eggs with 4 pieces of toast. Then, I am having 2 air fryer potatoes (wedges). Finally, I am having yogurt.

My roommate suffers from stomach problems. She has given me the yogurt that she doesn't want. Yogurt is so expensive! She buys her yogurt in an assortment from Sam's Club.

I am not a vegetarian but I have never been good at gardening. So in addition to having ducks, etc., do you also have your own garden? Do you have fruit trees as well?

Good, you're already a vegetarian and find it easy to plan meat-free days. It saves money, and also has numerous health and environmental benefits.

I eat poultry and fish, but not red meat. Recently I have been having one meat free day per week - i.e. one day per week where I don't eat any poultry, fish or red meat. If I continue that for the rest of the year, I will try increasing it to two days per week from 2025.

It's a good thing to break the habit of eating meat or non veg daily and try some other thing like green veggies, salad, Fruits etc

If you just substitute green veggies and fruit for meat you will probably still be hungry. You need to add something high in protein, like eggs, nuts, beans, lentils or tofu.

Botswana has some of the best free range beef in the world: FACT!! So growing up, I used to eat quite a fair bit. As I get older and older, I appreciate the benefits of cutting right back on my beef intake and now consume more white meat than red. I also try to have a meatless day at least one a week. At first, I thought it'd be hard but so far, it's been a breeze. I used to say I could never be a vegetarian. Now I feel I can at least be a pescatarian.

I am getting teeth pulled slowly. So far, I have 4 teeth left.

I have been attempting to rely on smoothies slowly too. There are days when I forget that I just cannot chew because I think that there are teeth.

Wonderful, it's exactly my kind of ordinary meals: fish (until it's blue fish) and poultry, as red meat has inflammatory effects that worsen my IBS. But I can't go 100% meat free, even during only few days. Suffering from many allergies and intolerances, I can't cut poultry at all (at least, I only can substitute poultry with eggs one day per month or per bimester). I can't eat anything containing gluten, corn, creamy products, legumes, cow milk, most of the cheese, canned food, cold cuts (that's, in fact, red meat) and cabbages. So many restrictions at the point I can't become vegan at all.

Protein is important for muscle repair and growth, as well as overall health and energy levels. So, we should make sure to include a variety of protein sources in our meals to ensure we are getting all the nutrients our body needs.
