When it comes to old and classic games. You can get most of them with emulators and just play them for free by downloading an emulator, and just getting the games. Don't worry most of these games are out of print and no longer are sold so it's ok to get them free. I do not encourage trying to get or download new games free that is not legal. But older games are fine. And you can save money by playing older games, and not spending tons of money on new games. Also systems sold at target like the Sega mini, come pre loaded with tons of games on it already. And it's cheaper to play older games this way.

So get out there and save some money by playing older and cheaper older games.

emulators cannot play online though. I like having ranked battles when I play fighting games. Piracy is more of a single player story mode thing.

I don't know if all games can be played on emulators, and some emulators that I know can actually make your device heavier, so the gaming experience will not be good

Some emulators can even cause your device to slow down and may damage it slowly. But indeed, instead of buying a new game, I prefer to play it on an emulator to save more expenses

I think people tend to spend more money on free games rather than paid games. Free games have micro transactions. If you want to save money, you should avoid micro-transactions.

Emulators cannot give you the feel of the real game. It is just manageable at best. I prefer the consoles.

Emulators has actually helped me a lot to be honest. Though having emulators would definitely help you save more money, you need a high end smartphone or an high end laptop or pc to be able to enjoy these games to the fullest. The only game i had ever bought was sega and one other game i can't remember. But so far i have played PS1, PSP, Nintendo 64, Nintendo NDS, currently playing Nintendo GameCube at the moment. I have not been able to make PS 2 emulator work properly yet. All the these games i have mentioned where all played through emulators.

You won't have to buy retro software to play older games. Just install an emulator and play your old games. Saves money quite alright.

Some emulators are even free software. And you get to enjoy your favorite games on your PC. That makes your PC multipurpose which saves you money.

Even with your smartphones, you can download emulator softwares that would allow you to play some games that you would have needed a new device to access and play.

Emulators have proven to be life savers for gamers when they can't afford a console. My friend wanted to take a loan to buy a console when his console packed up. I had to introduce emulators to him to keep him off that debts.
