Well, here in the US, toilet paper is the standard for the procedure. However, buying cheap toilet paper is not the tissue for the issue. We used to call cheap toilet paper "John Wayne Toilet Paper: As rough as sandpaper and won't take sh.. off anybody."
There is one thing I hate the most and that is poking myself in the brown eye when the paper tears through. You have to use several layers of the cheap stuff just to get the job done where you can use a single sheet of the quality paper for each application. Back when I had a roommate, he used the cheap stuff and went through several whole rolls each week. I use the quality stuff and a single roll usually lasts a month or longer. I ended up spending a lot less on TP than he did. That was a several year comparison in the same household.
By the way, the highest quality TP I have used is made from bamboo rather than paper made from trees. The hard part is finding it. You usually have to find and buy it online.
I don't consider this a money saving tip at all.
