I am not vegetarian but sometimes I eat vegetarian because it is cheaper. For example, the other day I just ate beans and rice because I didn't want to spend money on meat. I am often frustrated in the store when I grocery shop because I will be looking at ground beef because my boyfriend and I love hamburgers and it's nearly $7 for a 1lbs package. When I needed 2lbs of ground beef because I bought hamburger helper and everything for spaghetti, I was unable to find 2lbs of ground beef for less than $10. I bought just the one pound of ground beef that was on sale for $5 something and got a pound of ground turkey that was $4.60. I have had days where I just skipped the meat altogether and bought broccoli rice and cheese for a couple of bucks. And breakfast meat is prohibitive so I just have toast and fruit and eggs for breakfast or something cheaper. Maybe some pancakes from a cheap box mix if it's on sale. I am a big fan of potatoes so sometimes my meal is just a potato and a veggie. I also love salad which can be cheap and filling with no meat in it. Since I am not a vegetarian I am fond of canned tuna fish. It's extremely cheap and very versatile for meals. Also can't miss with a stir fry minus meat either with rice. Meatless at least some of the time is definitely a money saving option.
