Save money by putting all your change in a piggy bank!

Postby MysticMoons » 28 Jul 2022, 05:57

One thing we do in our house to save money is simply to put all change and coins in a piggy bank. Then once it gets really full we take it all to coin star. Coin stars are these stations in grocery stores, that turn you coins into dollars. Well you take them in there, then you are able to earn tons. But save them coins up for a long time in jars and piggy banks. Once you have a lot you can cash then out in a coin star or sometimes even banks give you cash, then you will have money saved up for a rainy day!

I like to save money and its a good habit to keep a piggy bank and put all coins in that or even a jar and it helps as we can slowly accumulate a big amount

It's a good idea though I am unable to go to the bank frequently but I have developed a saving habit since then. I usually save 20% of my profits in my offline businesses

Do they charge you anything for doing that? E.g. if you put in $100 worth of coins, how much do you get out?

Yeah you can save a whole lot of money saving them in a piggy bank. But you should first make sure that you are not living with some funny people that can be getting out your money

I did save 10 cent coins in a pvc piggy bank. However, i could not open it. I had saved the coins for 10 years. I could not break it either because it is pvc, not ceramic. Maybe i had to use a saw to cut it

I have been saving my loose change for years. I don't have a piggy bank, just a jar for the collection.

I have looked at the CoinStar machines in grocery stores, but they charge a fee for their service. I have seen it anywhere from 7% to 10% of whatever you put in. Seems like they are sort of like vending machines that are privately owned for profit. A slip pops out that you take to the customer service desk or a cashier to collect.

Instead, I went to the bank to ask about coin roll wrappers. The bank gives them out for free. You can roll your own and then take the full rolls to the bank for their full value. The banks do not charge any fees. (Well, some might, but mine does not.)

The last time I rolled and cashed in my collection it was just over $70. I've already got a lot more in the jar, and when it is full, I plan to cash it in again.

It is slow, but it does eventually add up.

Better save it in a recognized bank or government controlled bank, you will earn with interest.

I tried the piggy bank idea. Failed badly. I save better when money is not at arms reach. But if you are desciplined it can work. Piggy bank idea is really good.

But saving money generally anywhere needs one to be disciplined whether in or out of the home. if you don't have self control you can never save money
