Over the past several years, we've witnessed how newly released products/services generated so much hype but soon proved to be quite lame. After just a few weeks, the people who impulsively purchased these products/services have only one thing on their mind: a refund.

A few examples of these overly hyped items/services are 3D TVs, fidget spinners, magnetic eyelashes, weighted blankets, diet water, YouTube Red, virginity soaps, etc.

So if ever a new product/service becomes available to the public, becomes super hyped and has caught your attention, the best thing to do is to wait for at least 3 (or more) months and contemplate if you still want the product or not. If not, you were probably interested in the product because of the hype, and not the usefulness of the product itself.

I usually buy something when the hype is over or when it is in hype but the price is really reasonably appropriate which is usually rarely but if I have the money for leisure why not... Ha ha.

I think almost all of us have violated this. And companies know that we love to buy hype. And they would hype it very loud into our ears and eyes. I am training myself to silence out hype in my purchasing decisions.

You have to give it to some brand managers. They can package and make a product look premium when it is actually basic and create much hype about it. I learned a long time ago that hype is not a yardstick for quality products.

Ajy products that promises me miracles regarding it's impact on usage is a pure hype and I avoid it like a plague.

Any product that is heavily promoted by influencers is mostly hype and one should just ignore it to avoid wasting money because it would surely be overpriced.

I have seen someone sell drugs and claims that the drug can cure more than 20 kinds of diseases. And people were just rushing the drug. They just bought the hype and wasted their money.

I have never been influenced by any hype. My purchasing decisions are based on my needs. Yes, when I decide to buy something that is needed, I look for reviews and suggestions from online, friends and family. I also explore the better offers.

I think the most hype that has swayed people to buy a particular line of products is in the weight loss markets. People have bought all kinds of expensive supplement expecting to lose weight rapidly but all is hype.

That's how I was carried by the hype they built around a certain concert that was happening in my city. Almost everyone was talking about it and buying tickets. I also bought the tickets which were very expensive. The show turned out to be a huge disappointment. Money wasted with no value derived.

Whenever a product is being hyped, I am always very careful cause most times that's all it is, just hype. They know they lack quality so what they do is to create as much hype as they can to get people buying it. I prefer making my own research before buying anything.
