Self Control

Postby sweerie_banana » 04 Aug 2022, 11:34

How do you purchase your items when you go shopping? I know of a shop where the owner allows me to take things on credit. So far I believe I owe a dollar.

I've been meaning to stop that habit. I think paying with cash gives you more discipline and control when spending.
Do you prefer using a debit card or credit card?

I use cash. I do not own a credit card or debit card. I pay everything in cash. That is how i control my spending habit. I bring out $50, i come back with $10

I normally prefer using cash when I go for shopping. I don't like the idea of accumulating debt on my daily expenses as I try my level best to live within my means.

I prefer using Debit card as it provides access to my own funds in the bank account. Also, I can track my expenses with every swipe.

You are right buying on credit opens the door to misuse of money. I prefer to carry cash, and a lost of what to buy. That way I know how much I am expected to pay

Recently I've been paying for stuff using my credit card on my phone. Paying by phone, doesn't feel like spending real money. Personally, I have to be careful with this, it's too easy to spend too much. When paying with cash I know exactly how much it is, handing over the cash makes it more real, I can see and feel the money being handed over and leaving my physical wallet. I'm naturally more careful with my expenditure, when I pay with cash.

I prefer to pay cash this way I will be able to control myself from buying unnecessary things because I don't even like the idea of even spending money. If I buy on credit I tend to get more than necessary.

Up until a few years ago, I would use cash only. However, there were more and more things that I wanted online. So, I got a debit card. So much easier to keep track of my expenses.

I don't buy anything on credit and like to pay by cash or online and only opt for it when I am out of cash and unable to pay online

I use debit card or cash, I try to avoid credit at all cost, even when they say that you will pay 0(zero) of interests there are always other costs to pay.

I have said this before and i would keep saying it, the only way any saving method would work is if you have self control. You could bring up the best savings tips and the likes, if there is no self control you would not be able to stay true to these tips.

I always stay away from debt, unless pressed by circumstances. Like paying bills every month, sometimes I don't have the money to pay them.

righ now I am debt free and I plan to stay this way, we did a great effort to pay completely our mortgage 2 years ago and since then our financial life has been improving. We need a lot of self control to have the money to pay it but it worth it.

That's just the truth, if you want to avoid spending and incurring debt you should discipline yourself not to spend

Some people just end up spending anyhow because they don't have self control and a mind of their own. I taught myself to be in charge of my desires.
