Just because a sales marketer, friend, or a random person gave you a coupon/discount voucher does not mean that you automatically need to use it. Especially if the coupons or vouchers are for things that do not really interest you. Spending $0 is way better than the savings that you'll get from buying unnecessary stuff = even if they cost lower than their original prices because of the coupon/voucher application. But if you don't want the coupons or discount vouchers to go to waste, you can present them as a gift to someone else instead.

As a rule of thumb, use coupons or discount vouchers only on things (or food) that you were already planning to purchase even before you laid hands on them.

It's quite true. I had a shopping voucher given as a token of appreciation in my job during Christmas times. It was not till I redeemed it last month on my favourite shopping mall.

Gifting the unused coupons is a nice gesture. When I don't use them myself, I gift them to my friends and cousins.

I totally agree with you, we should only spend in things that we actually need and use, the fact of having a coupon it doesn't mean that I am going to use it.

This is a good side to this whole buying with discount stuff. it is good to only go with that which will only give you maximum satisfaction than just buying for buying sake because of little discount
