There's nothing more satisfying than a garden full of fresh veggies all raised by your hard work. Quality food on our tables with homegrown vegetables, that's a tasty solution to saving money!

Before you start with food gardening, make sure to understand the environmental climate you live in and choose vegetables to grow according to that. It'll be the most cost-effective way to start your own food garden, as you wouldn't be wasting time and money on vegetables that aren't right for your garden.

If you have limited space, you can try gardening vertically, an A-frame Trellis, and container gardening.

Whatever method you choose, make sure to select vegetables that are easy and budget-friendly to maintain as well as high-yielding, so that your garden saves you money.

I live in a farm and since childhood that I am used to see my parents raising our vegetables and fruits, it has always been a great source of food and has saved us a lot of money. Nowadays it is even more important as due to inflation the price of fresh vegetables increased a lot.

We all having your won veggie garden will save you money.

I once heard about a neighborhood where each neighbor agreed to plant a certain vegetable. When they harvested they would give away the veggies for free to whoever in the neighborhood wanted them.

Folks at the church where I worship often bring in veggies from their garden and leave them on a table for whoever wants them.

If I could have a garden I would plant onions, celery, tomatoes, potatoes, and carrots.

This is true you can plant your vegetables and other basic crops in your garden and money will be saved than buying from the early morning market or the evening market.

If you planted non perrenial veggies, You have to save seeds and plant them again. I planted a pidgeon pea and lentil tree as replacement for beans. I have "beans" all year long. I also use the leaves as rabbit feed.

On our farm, we don't plant cherry tomatoes, it grows spontaneously every year.

Plant sweet potatoes and never harvest the roots. the leaves are edible and you will have an infinite source of leafy greens. I only harvest only a quarter of my sweet potato field once in a while but I prioritize the leafy greens.

Do you eat pigeon peas? I grew up eating pigeon peas and rice. We used to be able to get them from the grocery store. There are canned pigeon peas that are brown and green. I prefer the brown pigeon peas. But they don't sell them in the grocery store any more. My substitute is crowder peas. But sometimes I don't see them on the grocery store shelf either! So frustrating. It's a taste from my childhood. When I left Miami, Florida, the pigeon peas became hard to find.

Nobody can ever go wrong with a food garden, you would always have food to eat and same to sell.

I eat all veggies except Okra, I hate Okra but I eat it when its available but I hate it. So yes I eat Pigeon peas because they grow on trees. I love perrineal plants.

I am more into animal husbandry than gardening though. I killed 8 ducks today for my own consumption. My next dream is to have a pond.

I also hate okra. A popular New Orleans dish is gumbo. The "authentic" recipe includes okra.
Oh well! Guess I have to settle "unauthentic" gumbo. Cause I am not eating okra!!

Plants harvest from pots are easier to grow than from seeds.

Same pinch for Okra aka Ladyfinger, I will eat even Bitter gourd, but I don't like Okra, and I don't know why.
