Don't buy everything in bulk

Postby Yugocean » 19 Oct 2022, 06:14

You'll find tips on purchasing in bulk useful, but on whether it's okay to buy items in bulk for savings, this needs to be reviewed.

A discount on bulk may happen because sellers might want to clear the stock.

For the time being, buying in bulk will have to be reviewed for real savings.

Don't Buy in Bulk -
For example, if you buy a large fruit box at a low price, you have to consume it within a certain time, otherwise it will get spoiled. If the fruit is spoiled, then you have not saved, but you have lost the money spent on it.

Buy in Bulk
For example, if you have to gift fruits to friends or relatives on some occasion (example Diwali, Holi and other festivals), then definitely buy in bulk because you have to distribute among different people, which will maintain the quantity.

This is a valid point! We are a family of 5, so when we buy in bulk we only buy stuff that we know will be used up before it expires. I wonder how many people waste money buying in bulk like this only to lose money in the long run?

Yeah it wouldn't make much sense buying perishable goods in bulk because you would not save money with them s they go bad easily.

Then you have to make sure to keep them stored before those goods are spoiled.
Even buy 2 smartphones and get one free scheme isn't profitable if you don't need 2-3 smartphones.

Lately, I'm considering the online purchasing of white Greek yogurts in bulks to save on shipping expenses (it's a particular brand of yogurt not sold offline in the supermarkets of my city, but the best for people who suffers from SII). Knowing I consume big amounts of white Greek yogurts due to my SII and being the timeline of these yogurts 40 days since shipping, I know I won't waste a single penny. it's 30 yogurts in all and I eat 2 or 3 per day. But mine is a peculiar case that doesn't apply for everyone, I know.

Very rarely I buy things in bulk, only if the promotion really worth the investment and if I know that we will consume the products while it is good, otherwise it doesn't worth.

There is way to get rid of insects. First insect proof your storage room and put them in plastic air tight storage boxes.

I never had problems with bugs. I also put Ultrasonic pest repellers to my storage room. You can by one for like 5 dollars.

If you want to buy a non spoiling thing, then only one thing is there - Salt.
You can store it, but even storage have limits.

Peas can be stored in frozen forms. I do it always (buy in winter, and enjoy during the year.
