The tube products that come on the market nowadays, such as toothpaste, shaving cream, moisturizers, etc., all come in tubes.

When these tubes run out, they have to be thrown away to buy another tube. Stop before you do.

If you cut the empty tube with scissors, you will find that there is still so much cream or paste in it that it may last a week or two. By using this, you will save on expenditure on the next purchase. This cream/paste can be stored in an airtight box to avoid spoilage during the period of use, or the remaining fat can be scraped off with clean, dry hands and put in a small airtight container.

I always cut the tubes before putting them in the recycle bin and I always have there enough for a week or so. This can be consider just a small save but many small savings together bring a big save.

There are 10s of thousands of homeless people in the US, and likely to be thousands of others around the globe who are among the very poorest. They frequent the trash bins looking for survival material and that includes the multiple containers with just enough left to satisfy their immediate needs. The Scriptures actually admonish you to leave the scraps for those in need. The references are not talking about just unharvested crops.

How would the poor be getting the scraps from tubes of things like toothpaste from household garbage, though? It would hardly be practical for them to go from house to house looking through people's bins. Gleaning is a good thing, but it doesn't seem applicable here.
