I am always friendly with employees at any business I visit and have never been pressured into buying something I have no interest in. I realize they have their job to do and appreciate their help when I ask for it. I have often even tipped them as an expression of appreciation for their help even if I didn't buy anything at all. I actually enjoy buying their smiles.
I buy what I want, not what they might be pushing. I don't even give them the opportunity to bring up something I have not asked for but I still remain friendly with them. I don't know. Maybe its just me. I can't be unfriendly with anyone who is just earning a living.
