Don't be friendly with sales staff if you want to save

Postby Yugocean » 04 Nov 2022, 07:09

Every time you visit the mall or a store, their helpful staff assists you. Simply omit the word "assists" from this sentence.

According to economist Marshall, consumers should always be considerate.

Avoid becoming too close or friendly with salespeople because they are skilled at duping customers into making purchases. They'll even con you into buying pricey items or the stock they want to clear, even when you don't need to. (Perhaps this has happened to everyone.)

Anyone who advises you to get along with the salesperson is trying to trick you with marketing gimmick.

I must agree that some salespeople are so good at their words in selling products or offering services. Whenever I go to malls, I usually tell them to back off and will call them if I am going to buy something.

It irritates me when I get into a shop and the salesperson comes immediately trying to help, I like to see and be left on my own, if I need help I would call them. I understand it is their job but I prefer this way.

It all depends on the shopper's discipline. If I don't plan to buy, there is nothing a salesperson can do to convince me otherwise.

They are skilled for people like you too, better tell them to back off like Shvakat, unless you actually ready to pay.

I have noticed this as well as they always try to convince you to buy. That's their job though it is up to us the buyers to choose wisely though.

I guess I don't understand your concept. Either sales people in your country are much more aggressive, or people in your country are much more gullible than people I know in the US. Maybe it is a combination of those two alternatives.

I am always friendly with employees at any business I visit and have never been pressured into buying something I have no interest in. I realize they have their job to do and appreciate their help when I ask for it. I have often even tipped them as an expression of appreciation for their help even if I didn't buy anything at all. I actually enjoy buying their smiles.

I buy what I want, not what they might be pushing. I don't even give them the opportunity to bring up something I have not asked for but I still remain friendly with them. I don't know. Maybe its just me. I can't be unfriendly with anyone who is just earning a living.

That is correct. That is why I keep a safe distance from them. I sometimes tell them that if I need help, I'll just call them. When I go shopping, I want to be alone.

sometimes it is very difficult to avoid persuasive talk from selling an item, and this is what sometimes causes you to be unable to save money

They are paid to be very persuasive to other people about the items they offer, and from this persuasive offer we are interested in buying their goods. I usually turn them down at the start before they talk further and get me interested in the item on offer

Sales staff love to coax ajd coerce people to buy what they didn't want to buy. They would cheer and hail you the more you buy. Being friends with them would make you easily fall into their trap.

This is a two way thing. Being friendly with sales staff can also make you to get available discounts on prices. You just have to study and understand the nature of the sales staff before being friendly with them.

I have to say, I can totally relate to you because I'm a super friendly person. I mean, if you came here, you'd think I was some local celebrity or something  Wherever I go - the pharmacy, petrol station, restaurants, supermarkets, clothing stores, the doctor's etc - I stop and chat with people and have a right laugh with them.

Yes, in Botswana, you sometimes get people trailing you and offering to help. But I absolutely hate this and usually say thank you very much, but for now, I'd much rather 'browse' and will call you over if I need you. This always works for me. I never get pressured or harrassed to buy anything. If anyone tried it on, I'd first tell them to stop. If it fell on deaf ears, I'd insist on speaking to the manager. If that still didn't work, I'd never return LOL But for sure, NOBODY can ever twist my arm into buying anything I haven't budgeted for.

I know that sales person have sweet mouths.. But if you have a purpose for your money, no one can manipulate you to make any purchases. It is their job to sell with whatever tactics. It's your own job to have self control.

This is another reason I do most of my shopping online. No pushy sales people and I know how much I want to spend.

But you have pushy ads that can still make you to buy on instincts. At the end of it all, it's all about self discipline.
