Most of the shopping malls charge extra money for packaging and I have faced this problem in the past so from months now, I am carrying my own carry bags and getting the products I need to save money and this way I have saved a lot of money when others are ignorant of this fact.

I often call my wife the bag lady, because she has bags stashed all over. A few lightweight ones in her purse, heavier ones in the car trunk, even more in the garage, under the kitchen sink to use for trash bags and even I don't know where else. If she does need to buy one, she knows the right places to go to get nice ones for a nickel.

Charging extra money for the shopping bags have become a business model for these stores. So, it's better to carry a bag with us while shopping. Doing so that extra cost won't be heavy on our pockets for our shopping trip.

Just so happens our local government decided to ban plastic shopping bags this year. Stores can't even sell them to us. We are forced to bring our own bags if we want to put our groceries in anything beyond what we can carry in our arms.

Over the years, I acquired cloth shopping bags without really looking for them. A job fair handed them out to collect whatever we collected from the various booths, a church handed them out to new or just visiting members, a flea market handed them out to visiting shoppers, etc. I just tossed them in the bottom of a closet rather than throwing them away or actually using them. Now I'm finally glad I have them.

Problem now is any packaged meat that has a leak makes a mess in the cloth bag and they don't wash easily. I had stuffed plastic bags in a collection bag to return to the recycling bucket in the past. I carefully folded them flat and have about 100 plastic bags of my own in a small bag I carry in the pack of cloth bags I now use. Those are now my own supply to wrap drippy merchandise before depositing the item in my cloth bags. The store can't provide them anymore but they can't keep me from using my own to protect my own reusable cloth bags.

One of the supermarkets in my city began to charge for plastic bags. All the other supermarkets where I purchase food and drinks don't do it. When I'll need to go to the first one again, I'll strive to bring with me enough plastic bags from home.

i don't leave my house to the market without a bag. I know I will need one to stuff my things. So it saves me from buying any.

In India, packing cannot be charged due to Supreme court order, but nobody cares. Yet it's better to carry your bag, because now you get only paper or thin plastic bag, which is not safe to carry.

This is an advice which isn't going to be accepted.
Once Pandemic start again, same people will blame "why it was stopped".

for now the use of plastic bags is being reduced in my country, so as much as possible I bring my own bag when I go shopping

Yes it's true i don't know why they charge extra money for carry bag even if we had done amount of shopping than also...it's better to carry our bag instead of wasting money

I personally have gotten used to carrying my bag when shopping whether it's grocer or other needs, apart from the fact that supermarkets don't provide plastic bags anymore, those who still provide them will also set a price for the plastic bags.

Yep it is so important to bring your own bag when you go for grocery, it is better to save our planet or it could be worse by the scattering of plastic bags out there

I always carry a spare bag that I fold well in my sling bag, it's very useful when at any time I need to carry a lot of things or when I'm shopping and need an alternative to a plastic bag
