Installing a ceiling fan is not easy from my own point of view. I don't think I would save on this. I have a small boy that does these things for me at a lowered rate.

I have been fixing my fans by myself in all my houses without calling anyone.. I even fix for people when they move in for a little fee.

Installing it yourself would definitely help you save money, but at the same time not everyone is able to do this. It would be better to get a professional to do this rather than doing it yourself while you end up doing the wrong thing.
