We use various things to fulfill some of our needs; we are not collectors of any particular item to start collecting it unnecessarily. Therefore, there is no need to spend on things related to your needs, which can be fulfilled by any technology.

For example, people used to buy things like a wristwatch, a Walkman, pocket games, a pocket torch, etc. for any need or entertainment, but now these facilities are available on mobile. So now there is no need to buy those items.

You can sell your old gadget though if you have the desire to buy the latest model, sometimes you will be force to do so. My old phone is not compatible to Youtube and Netflix anymore. So I have no choice but sell it and buy a new model.

The truth is that no one knew that these things would eventually be almost free with technological advancement. The Walkman for instance was quite popular at the time but we had no idea of the future.

Wrist watches are articles of fashion now rather than time pieces. I can't step out without a wristwatch though. I would feel incomplete.

That is why I can't spend my money to buy a TV set now. That is because virtual reality would make them useless in the near future.

For me i only buy things i have good need for. If my mobile phone can do majority of the things i need it for then i see no need in buying something else.

Technology that depends on older model technology would soon go obsolete. I avoid them totally and save my money.
