House hunt alone to save money

Postby augusta » 05 Mar 2023, 06:03

It is becoming increasingly expensive to hire an agent for a home search, you can save your self all the money you would spend on paying for application form, inspections fees, then the 10% upfront fees and even the 5% fees for their lawyer's letter to just get a place yourself. You just need to find time to search for a home you want and you would get it in no time and agency money is saved for more important things.

What do you think?

Very good tip Augusta. They unfairly make money from both sides, better find on your own

I agree with this. Why don't people search for homes for themselves. The agents charge so much in finding home for you.

Nowadays there are several online platforms where we can search for a house, right now houses are in a big demand in my country, it is not easy to find a house to rent. We can save money searching for ourselves but real estate here only charge a fee if you decide to rent or buy.

This could be effective as you won't be having to pay any agent fee but on the other hand, it can be quite difficult especially if you are a busy person.

I agree with you about getting an agent but I will always get a home inspected. The reason being is a home inspection shows a lot of small details about the home. It brings up issues like bad plumbing, termite damage, and foundation damage. It may be costly but it is worth it in the long run

This is a nice way, I was desperately in search of a house last year and had to go through so much and still couldn't get one of my choice using agents.

Yes it might seems expensive but In the long run you would know that it saves you spending so much money on it in the future

If you want to save money when looking for a house, it would be best to do it alone, cause these so called agents usually tend to charge very high.

House hunting alone would not be good when you are under emergency to secure an accommodation.

I didn't even know hiring an agent to look for a house for you was a thing. I've only ever looked for accomodation myself. That's the way it's usually done here.

I have always been lucky to easily find houses whenever I need them. I just enter the streets and look for an agent.

Even searching for apartments on Facebook, it is the agents you would still meet. Most landlords are not online. They build and outsource to these agents and property managers.

Sure it's a good way to save money and forget about paying any agency fee for house hunting

The best way to use the tip is to start your house hunting by yourself early enough so that you would avoid the rush and have to look for an agent.
