Postby Netherrealmer » 14 Mar 2023, 11:55

Majority of countries have discounts for seniors and a senior It will give you discount in groceries, restaurant food, commuting fair, movie tickets and many more. Also in services where you have to take a cue, You can skip that line. I remember How much discount my family get from groceries when my grandma is still alive. How to get a senior ID have different rules according to country but you can search what are the rules in your country.

My parents already have it, it is a good card, it gives them some nice discounts and they can even travel for free on some public transportation. They also have discounts in restaurants, fairs and theatres.

My father has been enjoying these benefits. We go to malls and his senior citizen ID gives him an item for half the price. I really would wish to have it when I advance.

For years I avoided banks and used credit unions. (Because banks charge you for breathing! )
But now that I'm a senior citizen I get free checking. It's awesome!

The perks of being a senior citizen is enormous in some countries. My country doesn't have that kind of social welfare. I hear senior citizens in some countries get subsidized medical care.

Yes, it's a shame these perks aren't always available in developing countries. My dad doesn't get anything beyond his pension, which is a joke anyway. Yet my in-lawas in the UK enjoy all types of discounted services. Such a shame.

Here in India, we too have some senior citizen benefits but not much. More needs to be done in this regard. We have Aadhar card here and that's like SSN ( social security number) of the US. That serves enough for the senior citizen id. I am not aware of any other senior citizens id here

Some countries aren't sensible with senior citizens, in fact I think some consider them a burden because they have to pay them pensions- I wonder if they will have the same feeling when they reach retirement age.

But pensions are only paid to those that worked in the civil service which is a tiny fragment of the population. Being a senior citizen ia attractive in Europe as there are so many perks to it.

You can also try to have PWD card if you have disability and mental disorders like ADHD counts in some countries so is poor eyesight that needs glasses. It has the same power as Senior Citizen Card, Serving military also gives lifetime discounts.

I'm in USA and I'm not sure we have a senior citizen ID. I just use my driver's license and I have a Medicare card for health matters.
