That's what my brother does, he always fixes whatever is broken in our house himself. If he can't handle it, we just call a repairman. It really helps to save more money.

My husband repairs almost everything in our house, only if it is something that he doesn't know how to fix, we call someone to do the job. This little repairs my husband does are fundamental to save some money.

Doing your own maintenance would definitely help you save more money. There are various things in the house you can sort out yourself that does not require hiring someone to do it for you, but at the same time, if you know you can't do it, always make sure you call who can, to avoid accidents.

Only do the things you are well versed and experienced in doing. This is very important especially as it relates with electricity.

It might save you money, but you'd need to be careful not to void the warranty on things you try to repair, and messing with anything electrical when you don't know what you're doing is very dangerous.

Maintaining things here are becoming very expensive if you want to engage one in it. Doing it yourself will be a lot better

You can repair broken parts of the tiling yourself to save money. You just need a piece of tile, a towel and cement. You can repaint faded portions of your house by yourself. All these save costs.

Common sense unfortunately doesn't seem to be all that common. Sometimes people on this forum recommend things that are dangerous or otherwise a bad idea, so I felt it was worthwhile to give a warning.

A friend of mine who works in IT has a lot of horror stories about people ruining their computers by trying to do their own maintenance.

I agree safety is paramount, and if you're unsure about a task, it's better to seek professional help to avoid accidents or damage.

Taking care of household maintenance tasks on your own can indeed save you money in the long run.

Common sense demands that you stick to the areas that you have reasonable knowledge about how it works. Don't maintain everything.
