Common sense demands that you stick to the areas that you have reasonable knowledge about how it works. Common sense unfortunately doesn't seem to be all that common. Sometimes people on this forum recommend things that are dangerous or otherwise a bad idea, so I felt it was worthwhile to give a warning.
A friend of mine who works in IT has a lot of horror stories about people ruining their computers by trying to do their own maintenance.
