Turn off your car engine at red lights

Postby JASPREET » 25 Mar 2023, 08:43

This is one of the most common tips to save money on Gas but we still see people don't follow it and even if they are to stand at the red light for 5-10 mins they still keep it on and if instead, they can put it off they can save a decent amount of money and also help the environment. <3

How will you know it's going to be 5 minutes until it is? If it turns out to be 30 seconds you just shorten the life of your battery and starter motor, which are far more expensive than the two teaspoons of gas you saved..

Since age is no longer creeping up on me, but rushing in like an NFL ball carrier on 4th down from the 1 yard line. it's very simple.

I've seen people doing that here and wondered what that was about! Those people probably hold the traffic up as well  So they are doing it to save money... crazy!! IDK I'd much rather just keep the engined running and ready to go when the green light comes on.

I see people keeping their ignitions on just to have a conversation with someone. I really can't do that as it is a waste of precious fuel.

Every drop of fuel saved adds up to the larger fuel saving goal. I say this because some people might ask how much fuel they save switching offer their ignitions at traffic lights.

This money saving tip is as bad as trying to save on toilet paper by folding a sheet in 1/4 and tearing off the point to make a hole in the middle, then sticking your finger in the hole and wipe away. When you are done, wrap your other palm around the sheet and pull it off collecting all the waste inside and use the hole you tore out to clean under your fingernail.

There is what is called warm ignition(many times a day) and cold ignition (max twice). Warm one uses more fuel than cold. So this is not advisable.

Now that the Russian Ukraine war has made PMS very expensive world over, it makes sense to off your engine when you are not actively in motion.
