Save money with limited usage of water in your home

Postby augusta » 15 Apr 2023, 15:24

Water bill just like light bills can dig deep into your pocket. As such it is pertinent to limit it's use to save money. You can limit water use when turning off your sink water when washing dishes. The best bet is to allow water splashes first on the dishes then turn off the water as you scrub the dishes, put it back when you are rinsing to converse the water and money is saved

Save with manually Washing clothes, use a bucket with water in it to wash than directly washing from the tap and wasting a whole lot of water on that. This will help to reduce water usage and bring low payment of water bill and money is saved

You can also save money by taking short showers to avoid wasting a whole lot of water and you would pay water bills and money is saved.

What do you think?

We need to conserve water; water is life. When washing clothes, it should not be done daily, much better once or twice a week to save water. We have to measure the water we will use like in cooking and in washing dishes.

Yes that's the whole essence, water bill can add up quickly if we don't conserve and this means high payment for water bill. So you can save money by limiting it's usage.

Someone once said because you have easy access to it does not mean you should misuse it. Whatever ever you have make use you learn how to manage it. Same goes for water. I usually see how most persons misuse water in my location.

Even if you are using a bore hole, not wasting water can make your pump to last long before you need to replace it.

If you are buying water, you should take practical steps to save costs on water bills. Wash all at once and don't pour the washing water. Use it to flush your toilet.

I am very conscious when it comes to environment and I try all ways to conserve nature and natural sources. I am very judicious with my water consumption. I have not paid any water bill so far. In our apartment, a certain amount is without charge and the cost is included in general maintenance fees. We, as a household have never crossed that amount.

Some people in my place, because they have boreholes, just waste water anyhow, forgetting that power which os bought pumps out the water.

Water should not be wasted and if possible should be reused if possible and should be stored properly

You are charged for water consumption and if you keep wasting water then you are not doing any good and need to pay more and can get penalized too because water availability is less so you cannot waste it

The water bill has more than doubled in my area just since January. I have always been rather conservative on everything, including water usage. I was shocked at this month's water bill because of the steep increase.

Just for example, when I wash dishes, I let it pile up until I have a full load. I put all the dishes that fit in the sink, lay a clean wash cloth on top, add the dish soap to that and let the water run at a very slow trickle. I wash a pile and set them aside and then only slightly increase the flow for rinsing to allow the rinse water to run into the wash sink rather than just waste it, and then back off as I wash another pile. Bit by bit as I go through everything, the wash basin slowly fills as I add more.

I have been doing it this way for years and rarely use more than 4 or 5 gallons total for the entire load because I use the rinse water for washing dishes as I add them to the sink.

Dishwater manufacturers frequently brag that they use far less water than hand washing, but they also state that a normal dishwasher load uses 9 gallons or less. I have always had them beat by 4 or 5 gallons. Goes to show how false advertising can be very misleading if you do it right.

I also added collection basins to the shower to collect bath water, then use that "grey water" to flush the toilet rather than using fresh water just to flush it down. Saves a whole lot more on the water bill than you can imagine.

Now, our current is low and we don't have spare money to buy fuel. We are managing water so as not to spend money pumping water.
