Limit Your Smartphone Usage In Front of your Kids

Postby Vehlijanta » 16 Apr 2023, 01:06

Kids learn from their parents and they are their first teachers. If you are having the habit to keep looking at your phone every time you are free and keep browsing the web for hours, play games, watch videos, reels etc then you cannot expect your kids to not get interested in these. And kids like to replicate what their parents do and start playing games on mobile and that ultimately affect their eye sight, studies so make them interested in reading books and this can be achieved if you read books in front of them and don't use phone much. This is how you can save money.

Kids learn from their days and their elders, so it's better to use in a way they will learn the right way to use.

Well said, not just the on how much we use our phones, we still need to be careful about the things we say and the things we do, cause they easily copy what they see.

My kids would always know that a smartphone is a money making tool and not an entertainment box.

I usually tell them that I use my phone to make money not to play. So that they would understand, leave me with the cell phone, and not bother me.

My kids all grew up and have their own ways of making a LOT more money than I ever even thought of.

So... are you saying it will save money because they might not need glasses? If so, probably not so much, because we didn't have smartphones when I was growing up, so people would blame nerdy kids' poor eyesight on too much reading. If books are supposed to be bad for your eyesight anyway then that won't make a difference.

I do agree though that's a good idea to model reading in front of children and to read to them, to encourage literacy and a love of books.

I don't think someone wears glasses because he is a bookworm, but because he has the wrong habit of reading. They read while lying down, reading in a dark room, reading at a distance that is too close when normally it is about 30 centimeters. etc.

I wasn't saying books were the problem, it's just something people kept saying to me because I wear glasses and enjoy reading. I think it's more of a stereotype than anything. In my case, my eyes just got a bit worse with age, as most people's do at some point. I first needed glasses in my late 20s.

In my country the updated system of government allows the kids to use tables and or smartphones. Kids on my country learn to use the technology while still very young.

Your advice is correct and we all know that we are our kids' role models but I actually don't see how doing this will save us money :eh: :eh:
