My experience is: don't run the fan, save power

Postby Yugocean » 19 Apr 2023, 11:55

I had received this information long ago: by running a fan, air circulates, which makes the person feel cool, but it actually heats the air and does not cool it. Then when the power goes out, the heat is high.

I started testing this on the basis of experience. Although it is summer nowadays, fans are running everywhere. But the fan doesn't work in my room, and believe me, I sleep comfortably, and it doesn't feel hot at all.

This is completely new for me, I use to have a fan in the living room while watching tv, it is true that I feel the air hotter after turning the fan off but I thought it wasn't the fan.

I beg to disagree with this. If you live in the tropics, you would be wishing you have a fan to blow the hot air.

In my country of birth, it's impossible to sleep without electric fans and aircon. It is so hot in my country. Even at 5 in the morning, we experience sweating. I pay the electric bill at P8,500 ( $180) pesos a month.

I think it is more about what our body is used to. if you are used to fan then you just believe you can't do without it but we can if we want to.

Not gonna work for me, I live in a desert and my skin will grow prickly heat without fans. Prickly heat is not a pleasant experience.

I don't live in Tropical area, so any claim about that isn't logical. People forced their mind to believe this.
Ok, try a little, and then use the fan.

Can you prove that scientifically?
This happens because your body has absorbed heat and has adjusted to cool temperature when the fan is on. It is quite normal for the body to feel heat without the fan because the body has adjusted to fan.

This is my point exactly this depends on the individual involved if your body is used to fan , trying to adjust it to no fan might make the body become very uncomfortable
