Powder Grind your Ingredients at Home to Save

Postby Vehlijanta » 27 Apr 2023, 01:19

There are many ingredients or Spices that we use in powdered form like Coriander, Cumin, Black pepper etc and its better to buy these in its original form and powder grind at home to maintain the purity and its cheaper than already available grinded spices in the market so you'll be saving money.

Better still, one can use a mortar and pestle to grind the food items that are not that hard.

Exactly, if you don't have the money for a blender you can go for both the mortar and it's pestle to help out.

That is what we have been using in my country for years. It must be part of every home in my place. Mortar and pestle has outlived civilization.

Exactly, Nigerians don't joke with mortar and pestle. We use it to majorly pound a lot of things.

This has been one of the ways we cut cost in my country, we prefer buying them in their original state and doing the processing ourselves as that seem to yield more and also at a lesser cost and even make it fresh.

It is not easy to find some spices in their original form in my country, I can find ginger, curcumin and pepper mills to grind at the time of use but these are expensive. I wish we have here street markets where all sorts of things are sold, including spices, it is so much cheaper in those places.

It doesn't take anything to pound your poundable food items. I have also been doing that.

I have a blender and I have not used it for a while. I find a way to pound my stuff without it.

I also often use a blender, if what I need to puree is quite a lot, to save more time and effort. And I use a manual pounder, if what I have to grind is small to save more electricity.

My blender is just lying there unused. I just use it for smoothies which I cannot manually pound. But other cooking stuffs, I pound them.
