Save money with reusable diapers or cloth nappies

Postby augusta » 01 May 2023, 23:00

if you are a new parent then you can save money buying cloth nappies for your baby than going for disposal diapers. With cloth nappies you. can use them for a long before thinking of buying new ones. Just wash and sun dry them for the next use and money is saved . What do you think?

Yes, that works. It depends a little bit on what kind of nappies (diapers, we call them nappies here) you use. Some cloth nappies can be expensive (the modern ones that have removable layers and go on with velcro) although even then they might be cheaper than disposables over time if you use them for multiple children. The old fashioned terry cloth square nappies are very cheap, but a bit annoying to use since you have to fold them and use pins or fasteners. The washing is extra work, but might be worth it for the savings.

Yeah it will be good to do the little you can but you would still save as you would buy the things a lot cheaper.

Reusable nappies are more expensive but the investment is worth it in the long run. You can save a lot of money and the environment because disposable nappies are very expensive and very polluting too.

Yes this might be another way to minimize cost by using nappies instead of diapers but considering the health of the child to avoid infection then you later spend much money in treatment so why mo continue using diapers

I'm not sure what you mean by nappies instead of diapers? I thought they were the same thing, just given different names in different countries (diapers in America, nappies in the UK and Australia). If you mean disposable vs. reusable, then reusable nappies don't cause infections or harm the health of the child.

Reusable items will always be cheaper than one-use items.

The issue is people are lazy or have no time to clean them. For things like diapers which touches a sensitive area, if they are not clean, it could easily cause an infection. It's the same with sanitary pads for women -- there are tons of reusable ones out there, but they're nowhere as popular as the disposable ones because people do not want to wash them.

That's what my neighbor did. She complained of how she lacks money to buy diapers, I told her about the cloth diaper, she applied this method and it worked like magic.

There's a type in my locality that has only it's inner layer disposed after it's been used for a while. It is hygienic conscious and it saves money compared to diapers which is 3 times expensive.

Even before now, reusable diapers have been in use and has been cheaper and also baby friendly because it reduces irritation in children

They use to cause rashes on the baby's butt. You have to make a special budget for diapers and keep resources aside before you have a child

If it saves money for you, it is fine but I don't find it suitable for the delicate skins if babies. I prefer disposable diapers.

Having a child comes with lot of financial responsibilities for families to bear and this is why it is necessary to prepare for the coming of new born early and not at birth.
