It uses electricity to auger the pellets into the firebox and run a fan that stimulates the fire, but it's natural hardwood such as Oak, Alder, Hickory, etc. that supplies the heat when burned. You can also lower the heat enough to use it for smoking and if you have not tasted Alder Smoked Alaskan Salmon, you have not lived yet.

That's right, the wood stove will leave some coals that we can use during the winter. So, I remember when I was little, after taking a cold shower, I would squat in front of the stove (wood-fired stove) to warm up. LOL

That's right, I was like that when I lived in the village. We can get a lot of firewood for free from the garden, sometimes building debris such as bamboo, wood, which we don't use can be used as firewood also for free.
