The Best Budget Apps for 2024

Postby Yusra » 25 Dec 2023, 16:05

Sticking to a budget is one of the best ways to manage your money and achieve financial goals. Thankfully, there are many excellent budgeting apps available to help track spending, create budgets, and automate saving. These apps make budgeting simple and accessible. Here are some of the top budget apps to consider for 2024.

Mint

This popular free app allows you to link bank accounts, credit cards, loans and more to get the full picture of your finances in one place. Mint automatically categorizes transactions so you can easily create and track budgets. Custom alerts can be set for things like large purchases or overspending. Mint offers great money management insights.

You Need a Budget (YNAB)

YNAB prioritizes helping users get ahead through budgeting. It operates on a “zero-based budget” approach, where every dollar in your account is assigned a purpose. Their system focuses on being proactive with finances rather than reactive. YNAB offers a free 34-day trial then subscription plans starting at $14.99/month.

PocketGuard

Ideal for those wanting a user-friendly, uncomplicated budgeting experience. PocketGuard examines income, recurring bills and spending to provide customized advice and insights on where you can save. There’s a free basic version, or upgrade to premium ($7.99/month) for things like suggestions to cancel unused subscriptions.

Goodbudget

Uses the “envelope budgeting” method of allocating money into virtual envelopes for spending categories. You can easily move funds between envelopes as needed. Goodbudget is known for their intuitive app interface. The app is free for up to 10 regular envelopes.

Wally

What sets Wally apart is its emphasis on automating saving and investing based on your spending behavior. Link accounts and Wally will move money at optimal times to maximize interest earned. They also provide analysis on recurring charges. Wally has a free version or paid subscription ($7/month).

Dave

While not technically a budgeting app, Dave can help avoid overdrafts through small advances to cover upcoming bills in your checking account. There are no interest fees but Dave charges monthly membership fees of $1 - $5. It integrates with many budgeting apps.

Budget apps make it simple to visualize spending, build a realistic budget that allows for goals and fun, and stick to it! The top-rated apps provide insights while automating tedious tasks. Determine your budgeting style and needs to select the best app to take control of your money in 2024.

All these apps don't impress me. People that have them are still impulsive. The one that would impress me are the ones that would lock your funds so that you can't access them for some time.

I don't use apps for budgeting. I do my budgets on a notepad and refer to them when I need info on it.
