Cheap, Nutritious And Delicious

Postby Spontaneo » 29 Jan 2024, 03:11

When thinking about sandwiches that one can have for breakfast, lunch, dinner and mini-meals, two (2) came to mind… eggs and/or pizza!

Both are cheap, nutritious and delicious! Save your money and fill your belly!

Some argue that eggs are too expensive. My local grocery sells a carton of eggs for $1.49 (US currency). We also get 2 ot 3 cartons of eggs every week for free from a local farmer. So, maybe you can look up some local chicken farmers?

Eggs are usually associated with breakfast. Why not have them all day?

Egg Sandwich

My personal version is a little different.

In a small microwavable bowl, mix 5 eggs with a splash of milk and a slice of American cheese.
Microwave minute by minute, stirring in between, until fluffy.

Pour in a cup of mayonnaise or Miracle Whip.
Mix.
Serve on toast or a roll.

My favorite though is pizza toast! What made me so happy is that the person made the recipe unique! Affordable! Almost all the ingredients you can find in your fridge! American cheese! Hot dogs!

Pizza Toast

My personal version is this:

Mix 2 softened sticks of butter with some oregano, tomato paste and shredded mozzarella cheese.

Makes a big batch of pizza butter.
Serve on saltines, bread, or tortillas.

So, the next chance you get and you’re hungry… think of eggs and pizza!

I do enjoy eggs for breakfast some days, but I think you can probably overdo them. I wouldn't want to eat them more than once in a day. They can be a pretty cheap source of protein, depending where you are. I eat them scrambled on toast (just the eggs with a splash of oat milk mixed in- you can add salt, but I like to eat them with toast and vegemite, very Australian). I only use two or three eggs to make scrambled eggs (depending on how big the eggs are, I have chickens and the different hens lay eggs of different sizes).

Pizza butter sounds a bit too high in fat for me (and I'd have to use vegan cheese and Nuttelex), kind of a calorie bomb, but it's cool that you like it. It'd make a good sometimes food and be quick and easy to make.

Eggs are best for breakfast and are not so expensive so yes everyone can afford and does not take much time to prepare
