Cottage cheese is popularly known as " Paneer" in our parts and IS available at around $8 to $10 for a kg when we can prepare it at home and will cost only $3 To $4. So this way we can save money and is a very useful ingredient in many dishes.
Yes fergal, " Paneer is prepared by adding food acid, such as lemon juice, vinegar, citric acid or dahi (yogurt), to hot milk to separate the curds from the whey. The curds are drained in muslin or cheesecloth and the excess water is pressed out. I have taken this info from Google
