Don't Waste Your Leftovers

Postby Spontaneo » 20 Apr 2024, 16:04

Don't let those leftovers in the fridge go to waste!

Do you have any personal methods to preparing leftovers?

We should discuss our methods with each other!

I shall go first...

Leftover Spaghetti

Simply melt a lot of butter in a skillet.
Toss in leftover spaghetti from the fridge.
Saute until all spaghetti is moist and hot.

That's it! Voila!

Now it's your turn!

Over here we can use almost every dish (Mostly veg) in our flour dough and prepare Missi Rotti so in case you have leftover spinach, any lentils or any veggies you can use that as a stuffing in bread or get it mixed in wheat flour while going for the dough

That sounds really good.

Sometimes I put leftover cooked vegetables liked mashed potato or roast veg into vegetable fritters. Sometimes I add them to fried rice.

That's good, this is how we can save money by not throwing away any leftovers at least till they are not spoiled

All the times it happens, if my husband cooked too large portions of food, whenever it's possible, I cook them for dinner. If it happens to become a toxic food for humans, whenever it's possible, we give them to the pigeons, turtledoves and other birds, little reptiles populating our courtyard or the cat of my sister-in-law, when it's a food good for cats.

Leftover bread pieces, add some sugar, milk and egg and then put all on frying pan. Now best sweet tasty item is ready within minutes.

I very seldom waste my leftovers. But according to a famous TV chef, you should always keep broth on hand. Take your leftovers, throw them into the broth, and have soup.

Thank you! The frying pan recipe and the broth recipe both seem to be delicious!

I recently bought an egg cooker at a looal l barn sale (a yard sale in a barn) as I never could never boil eggs.

I learned how and made a batch. I only ate 1 egg. I then looked up and found if you eat an egg it is a bad omen to your loved ones.

A very good way to use up day-old bread! Thank you!

Today, I had a disaster.

My Crock-Pot french toast just did not taste right.

I am not sure if the eggs were to blame or the bread.

Such french toast always turns out good.

The bread was from the freezer. The brand name being Brownberry with a bunch of wheat and seeds. Usually bread is bread.

The eggs were mostly brown and from the egg farmer.

What do you think?

The colour of the eggs won't make a difference. Brown eggs taste the same as white ones (I keep chickens). Could be that one of them was bad though? Do you know about the float test? You can tell how old eggs are by putting them in a container of water. The freshest ones stay on the bottom. If they lift up a bit at one end they're maybe a week old. If they float to the top, throw them out.

Maybe a tiny bit of mold crept in to some of the bread? I check each slice before I toast them if they're a bit old.

It also could be the milk.

In any way, we also need to pay attention to leftovers that become toxic after a while. When the colour, smell and/or taste becomes suspicious, better to not risk. Especially in the case of leftovers so wasted that we can't even feed our animals (or in the case of a so delicate animal we can't give it a leftover to eat or even the animal can get a sickness). Rushes to emergency, doctors and drugs are more expensive than throwing a leftover... :?
