Take Advantage of Streaming Platform Partnerships

Postby cmoneyspinner » 15 Mar 2024, 21:31

First I hard hardly any access to streaming platforms, now I have a variety to choose from.

If you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you will pay a little bit extra to subscribe to one of their partners or channels. They have Britbox, Starz, Dicovery+, Paramount+, Kocowa+, etc.

Here's a tip!
If you have a Viki subscription, then you don't need the Kocowa+ channel on Amazon Prime. Viki has the same content and a Viki subscription is cheaper.

If you subscribe to Disney+ you should get the combo package of Disney+ and Hulu. That's better than having a separate subscription for Hulu. Huly has a lot of original content and Disney+ is also putting out original content.

Netflix has not partnered with other streaming sites. But Netflix has signed distribution agreements. Some of the Viki Original content is now streaming on the Netflix platform.

Also, South Korean studio CJ ENM has partnered with some of streaming platforms that are free with ads, like Pluto TV, Tubi TV, Roku, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, etc.

These are my subscriptions and if you say I'm paying a lot for subscriptions, have you been out for dinner and a movie recently? It costs almost the same and it's only for one night. With my subscriptions, I stay at home instead of going to a theater (where I don't have to worry about mass shooters). I can watch anytime at my convenience and there is a lot of stuff to choose from.

Initially, I only had Netflix (which my sons paid for).
Then I subscribed to Viki (which I paid for because at the time Netflix did not have enough K-dramas).

My daughter gets a free Paramount+ subscription as a job perk.

For Christmas, I gifted myself a subscription to Amazon Prime and Disney+/Hulu. I only planned to subscribe for 3 months (Jan, Feb, Mar) and then suspend the subscription. I may reactivate my account again during the holiday season.

Thanks to my kids getting me an Amazon Fire TV, I have access to many free platforms like Tubi TV, Pluto TV, Freevee, and Roku.

Of course, there are also video platforms like YouTube and Daily Motion.

Once upon a time, Netflix was the only kid on the block. Now we have streaming platforms coming out the WAZOO!! The competition is extreme. As a subscriber, I'm loving it! It gives me more to choose from.

Thanks for sharing those tips and suggestions with us cmoneyspinner. I have Disney+ and will definitely keep the Hulu partnership in mind, should I decide there is something interesting there that I want to view.

I only signed up for Korean dramas. Hulu was already making Originals and Disney+ has decided to invest in Kdrama. Either making Originals or getting the distribution rights to stream.
