Korean Fairy Tale Spins

Postby cmoneyspinner » 03 Nov 2024, 23:26

Some of the Korean dramas take Western fairy tales and put a spin on them.

I'm watching one now called "Snow White's Revenge". What happened was the girl told her friends she a nice stepmother just like Snow White. Her friends told her she was mistaken Snow White had a mean stepmom. She got mad at her friends. But it turns out that her stepmother wasn't just mean, she was a murderer. The girl ran away from home. But when she grew up she came to get revenge on her stepmother.

There are quite a few K-dramas with Cinderella in the title. Right now I'm watching one called "Cinderella's Sister". In this series, Cinderella wants to be nice to her sister. But her sister hates her. The sister has good reasons. But the sister actually hates her mom. Her mom is her real mom and she's the stepmother to Cinderella. But the stepmother treats Cinderella much nicer than she treats her own daughter. There's a lot of tension in this K-drama, Cinderella's sister is angry all the time. But she has her reasons. I'm rooting for the sister all the way!

I know the Cinderella girl is not mean or anything. But she's kind of a wimpy, spoiled, bratty-type who gets on your nerves, even when they're trying to be nice to you. Chances are that even if the girl wasn't angry with her mom, she probably be constantly pissed at her sister anyway!

I like it when scriptwriters remake old fairy tales. Don't you? Do you know of any remakes you liked?

Many of the K-dramas you can watch on Viki for free. When I first started with the Viki, I only watched their free content. After a while when I could afford the monthly subscription then I started watching more.

Also, check out the SamsunPlusTV platform. They are offering free Korean content to stream.

Samsung Plus TV is a smart TV app that gives you thousands of hours of free Korean movies on the go. Smart people get free K-Drama and K-Pop without paying a single cent on the go. It's a smart game on Samsung TVs and phones that puts you closer to the Seoul vibe on the go every day.

Samsung Plus TV is good. But Viki is better!
Even though Netflix tries to add a lot of K-dramas to its database to keep up, Viki offers some for FREE. Netflix does not.

It’s fun when writers take old fairy tales and give them a fresh twist.

Yes that's true, but some of them end up ruining the whole thing at the end of the day.

There you have it, Viki is another news for Asian drama fans. Samsung TV Plus is great because it's free and has a lot of live channels, but Viki wins in terms of its large K-Drama library and careful translation. On Viki, you get hot stuff from Korea and China that you can't easily find anywhere else. If you like exciting stories and a clean look, then Viki is the best choice for real entertainment.
