I do not believe that children should suffer for the wrongs committed by their parents, grandparents, or any of those who came before them. But the reality is they often do bear the brunt of those sins.
I finished watching the TV series “Mr. Sunshine” and there are several quotes I could take away. But there was one scene in particular where there were 3 young men, all about the same age, from the same country, but different backgrounds and experiences.
One of the men looked at the other man and asked him a question. The man looked up at the guy's face, heaved a sigh and said: “I've seen that look before. Which one was it? My father or my grandfather?”
I thought to myself: 'My goodness. That must be tough having to be confronted constantly by people who hate you and you haven't done anything to them. But they hate your guts because of something your parents or grandparents did to their parents or grandparents.'
That's life!
