The number song in the charts right now is about murder

Postby Netherrealmer » 21 Jan 2023, 18:39

Sza wrote and sang a song titled Kill Bill. it is inspired from the violent movie from the early 2000s title-wise but the song is about a woman who decided to murder her ex-boyfriend who dumped her.

The chorus is very haunting:
I might kill my ex, not the best idea
His new girlfriend's next, how'd I get here?
I might kill my ex, I still love him, though
Rather be in jail than alone

By the end of the song the chorus changed:

I just killed my ex, not the best idea
I killed his girlfriend's next, how'd I get here?
I just killed my ex, I still love him, though
Rather burn in hell than alone

At least the song is not about sex since we are bombarded with sex songs for a decade.
I think there had been songs about murder before but this one is the first one that became a massive hit.

Her previous hit song is "Big Boy" which is a body positive song for fat men:

She seem to find unique topics for her songs.

These lyrics depict a common family issue where, in certain households, a husband and wife have separated or divorced, but when the husband travels to visit his children, he continues to live his married life as though they were still together, even after getting remarried, which causes comparable issues.

Did that 'body-positivity' song ever get 'out with the normal music-videos,' or was it always 'only just a SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE parody-song'? I ask, because the main 'body-positivity' song I'm thinking of did play in the mainstream ...
You know; hearing that song before I saw that video, I admit (almost ashamedly-so  ) that I thought it was a black woman ... just like I thought 'a black man' sang the theme song to the first THE WONDER YEARS-series.

I saw something on TikTok the other day and someone sang these lyrics and I thought it was just something they made up, I had no idea that they were actual lyrics from an actual song that is in the charts. It's crazy what gets released and ends up hitting the top of the charts.

There have been quite a few popular songs about murder. Pumped up Kicks by Foster the People springs to mind for one.

It is not number one anymore, its replace by a Miley Cyrus song about how Liam Hemsworth cheated on her.

Kill Bill had a good run though
