I'm "typecasting" him according to three of the four roles I can remember him playing: Ultron (in
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON), Reddington (On
THE BLACKLIST), and Alan (on
BOSTON LEGAL).
The 'typecast' is "the nerdy rebel (not the kind that breaks the law, but the kind that ...
understands the law as 'more like
guidelines
')"
Recovering from my brain-injury, much of my social development has been parisocial (my real-life friends are awesome, don't get me wrong; but they are outnumbered by my 'TV- & Movie-stare friends

' with whom I spend so much more time).
So many 'TV- and movie-characters' are my father-figures: Jean-Luc Picard, Riker, Sam Beckett, Ethan Hunt, Stephen Colbert (I know 'that's a real person!' but I'm more-familiar with him 'as he presents himself onscreen'), Captain Jack Sparrow,
but the one I most want to be like is 'the nerdy rebel' that James Spader portrays so well.
And I make that distinction (
'the character-set he plays' and not necessarily
'the person he is') because it's said that
his real-life behavior isn't that personable.
Oh, his typecast isn't that personable either; but I think 'understanding why some people are "that way"' helps me (one of 'those people'

) to integrate with society.
Maybe that's 'a little too deeply-personal for The Forum'; but maybe it encourages you to brighten your dark times a little, which is how James Spader encourages me
