Amazon brought James Bond from Barbara Brocolli

Postby Netherrealmer » 21 Feb 2025, 23:17

for 8 Billion dollars, Amazon paid owner of James Bond, Barbara Broccoli 8 Billion dollars for all the rights and control of James Bond. She cant say no to 8 Billion dollars. So Aaron Taylor Johnson's James bond debut might be in trouble. People on Instagram and Twitter are now Bullying Amazon to fire Aaron Taylor Johnson and cast Henry Cavill instead.

Image

Barbara Have strict rule that James Bond should always be Male and British... With her losing control that rule might get broken.

I feel bad for Aaron Taylor Johnson.

Should Amazon fire Aaron and cast Henry Cavill?

Jeff Bezos is now asking 007 fans on twitter who is their dream Bond and Henry Cavill is overwhelmingly getting votes. 2nd place is Tom Hardy.

Oh, I had thought of sharing this news but anyways it's fine !
I think that Amazon should leave casting decisions in the hands of people who are into creative thinking rather than some Twitter or other social media poll deciding the same.
And if popular vote has to come, let us put up the name of Akshay Kumar as the Indian contender for James Bond !!

They will only cast British people as Bond. I Remember the rules is he must be a man and British. Broccoli and her brother gave in with 8 Billion because Bond will be Public domain in 2035. The only Indian actor who was candidate for Bond is Dev Patel as he is based from UK

I hope they don't ruin the franchise though. At the moment fans are crying for Henry cavil, they should simply give the fans what they want.

Amazon really believes on Bond that they purchased it from its owner despite of the fact he will be public domain in 10 years. They have to make a lot of Bond movies in 10 years because after that everyone can make their Bond movies and adapt Ian Fleming novels.

I don't get though, why are they now making these characters public domain? Is there a specific reason? Like is this a must?

If a writer has been dead for 70 years their characters become public domain. if its me, I will make it 100 years. That's just the law but some countries let descendants of writers extend ownership.

Oh now i understand, thanks for the explanation. Though i feel this law might end up ruining most of these characters.

That's a huge payout good for Barbara Brocolli, wouldn't it be great to have something with that kind of value that you could sell off. She probably worked hard on it for a number of years and is reaping the awards now.

Yes 8 Billion USD is a good enough reward for Barbara and perhaps with Bond franchisee not as big rage as before, I think the decision is fine.

They should use A.I and make another movie with him as Bond. They already use it in Star Wars.
Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin in movie n Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

We can hope that Amazon does well by managing this James Bond Franchise and hopefully, we can expect even better movies.

Hmmm.
Does it mean that Barbara is British?
Why the seeming obsession with Brits?

Anyway, I think her preference is now a thing of the past.

James Bond is a British creation. Barbara Broccoli is British. And it's something the British are proud of. It's their modern literature that becomes mainstream. That's why we do not want an American actor to play James Bond. He can be any ethnicity, but he must be British. His passport must be British. Or at least Scottish.

If those are the rules and regulations, then it's best they follow it to the latar.

I think if they cast an American actor for James Bond, it will make the British angry. This is like when they cast a white guy to play Son Goku in a Dragon Ball movie. At least there's more flexibility with James Bond. He can be white, he can be Asian, he can be any ethnicity, but his passport must be British. The actor must be a UK citizen, and not a foreigner with British descent. No. They will not count that. They want someone who is born and raised in the UK.

I don't mind Amazon buying James Bond. I'm annoyed they made a deal with Melania Trump. IT'S VERY UNPATRIOTIC!

Kind of reminds of Bob Dylan. Why have the headache of dealing with the business - copyrights, publishing rights, ... Oy vey!! Give the headache to somebody else. Sell it for a lump sum and live the rest of your life in peace.
