Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani girl who fight for her rights for education, and because of that, the Taliban shoot her in the face, but she somehow survived that assassination. It happened when she's like 14 to 15 years old. Now she is an advocate for girls' education, and she fights for the rights of girls in Pakistan and Afghanistan to make sure they'll be educated. And because of that, Marvel used her as a prototype when they made Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel.

Just like Malala, Kamala is a Pakistani girl, but she's American citizen and she's from New Jersey. That's the only difference she has with Kamala, but, you know, she never experienced being discriminated for being a girl. Instead, she is a superhero fangirl who became a superhero herself. But the way she dressed, the way she behaves, you will notice that she have the Malala characteristic.
