He is highly rumored to be the next actor to play Superman. Superman was always played by white men but at certain point a mixed race Asian guy played him:

Dean Cain is Half Japanese and he played Superman on TV back in the 90s.

So a non white superman happened before.

Many fans don't like race bending and thinks they rather see an original black Superhero like Black Panther,Blade,Static Shock, Storm, Spawn and Cyborg rather than race bending a white character or POC character into white.

Henry Cavill wants out because DC and Warner brothers don't want to give him solo movies and he is interested on being the next James Bond.

Personally, I see no problem in Michael B. Jordan be the next Superman, maybe the original character superman was a white man but that doesn't make a rule about the color of the next superman.

I'm not very familiar with the actor Michael B Jordan, although he was great in Creed. It would be interesting to see him as Superman.

Having watched some of The Last Dance documentaries on Netflix, I would love to see Michael Jordan the former basketball player, do something like that

As long as he kicks ass in the movies and Louis Lane is hot I am happy with it! I have actually not really watched the latest super man.. but i would watch this. he looks cool as a Super Man. Clark Kent fans dont need to be angry, He will be from an alternate Universe. So he can coexist with White Superman, DC is not taking away your White Superman thanks to multiverse. Also Superman is an Alien so any man can play him.

This Black Superman exist in the comics from multiverse.

I think this would not be a bad idea. Superman has not been quite active since a long time so a fresh face could bring back some interest.
How the audience accept this new superman would be something that needs to be seen.

You are right. We make our images around our superheroes and sometimes bringing such drastic change might not be liked by many. Fans have a image in their mind and they won't appreciate it being altered.

Superman was a character created by some Jewish guys who wanted to promote "Truth, justice and the American Way", an ideal everyone should aspire too. During the time period in America when they created the Man of Steel he would have only been accepted as a white guy, a WASP. He definitely could not have been raised Jewish.

But these days, one can recreate the entire Justice League to be more "representative" and they can promote "Truth, Justice and Equality For All".

they just cast a latina to play Superman's cousin Supergirl. I hate the costume, The skirt is the iconic look of Superman's cousin, She looks weird without it.
