Nielsen reveals the most watched tv shows of 2022

All of them are streaming shows, Network television is about to become obsolete. Stranger Things and Ozark are about to end, So Wednesday will be the one to carry Netflix for 2023. In 2020 to 2021 The number one show was Squid Game.

Dahmer rating high makes me sad because it leads to those crazy teenage girls thinking he is cute. Cobra Kai started as a Youtube show so I admire its success.

This shows that Netflix is still dominating the streaming war, even with so many people threatening to unsubscribe and leave them. It'll be interesting to see what'll happen next year. I'm surprised popular shows like The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu) or Westworld (HBO) didn't make it.

I remember the director of the canceled Netflix show Baby Sitter's club said their show have higher ratings than top HBO max shows.

Not surprised. Even low-tier Netflix shows are more popular than the most popular shows from other streaming services. Their strongest competiton is probably Hulu, but Netflix is still far more popular by a long shot.

We have 2 amazon shows in the top 12 so I think amazon is the one. It also cheaper and does have password sharing.

At the moment, it's not Amazon. The Boys is really their only popular original show (and maybe The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel). Lord of the Rings already had a big fanbase which is why the show made the list - it likely doesn't have anything to do with Amazon. Most people who have/watch Prime video have it because they already have the Prime membership which includes same or two day delivery and other perks. I think only a small percentage of users are subscribing to Prime videos (and not the free shipping/prime membership).

I'd say right now, the ranking is Netflix>>>>>Hulu>Disney+>HBO Max>Prime>everything else. Every now and then, we'll get a super popular show from the other streaming services (Hulu - The Handmaid's Tale, NBC/Peacock - Manifest, etc.), but it doesn't really change the ranking, Netflix is still dominating and will probably continue to for a few more years. Netflix cost too much though. They could go down just for that reason.

Interesting. I've only seen a few of these (Stranger Things, Wednesday and the Umbrella Academy).

Cobra Kai season 1 is available on YouTube for free because it started as a YouTube show.
