it happened just when Picard & Beverly were on leave before they got separated & never managed to see each other again. Beverly decided it was better that Jack didn't know Picard, and--by the time she told Jack about him--Jack himself decided not to meet him.
Episodes 3 & -4 present us with an enemy ship called The Shrike, captained by Vadic (we haven't learned much about yet ... except that she's being played by the daughter of Christopher Plummer (who played the captain of a Klingon ship in STAR TREK VI)). It uses some stolen wormhole technology to trick the Federation starship (I forget the name, but it's the ship that Riker & Picard had taken command-of) into firing on itself and sinking into a gravity-well;
the ship seems doomed to be crushed & destroyed, when Beverly realizes that they'[re actually inside a gestating womb, giving birth to an outer-space creature like the one that was birthed at the end of the conclusion of the first episode of ST:TNG
... will Time-Traveler Wesley Crusher have something to say about this? ... but 'ensuing' ...
The word "Ensuing" (like Ensue, Ensues, Ensued, Insue, Insues, Insued, Insuing) comes from a wordroot that means "to FollowUpon."

It might be nice to take the ACTUAL SPOILER out of the title so that people who don't want the show spoiled for them won't have that happen while they're scrolling through the topics list.

How do you know I'm not talking about 'someone else being someone else's father' (Q being Picard's, Picard's being Riker's, Wesley Crusher (through time-travel) being Beverly's)?
The SPOILER I mention in the topic-title is actually in reference to STAR WARS |V|: THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, where
'Luke, I am your father' (I thought "everyone knows") is a misquote of Darth Vader to Luke Skywalker in a climactic scene where--after Luke accuses Vader of killing his father Anakin Skywalker--Vader replies, "No, I am your father."

And I went ahead and changed it.
