When the director Daniels proposed the script of this movie, Many movie studios rejected because they feel like they should get white actor instead or make the lead character younger. I mean an action movie starring a 60 year old woman doesnt sound marketable. It has limited released in theaters because of that but it end up making 100 million dollars despite the limited release. Then it became monster in streaming services.



Michelle Yeoh is doing action films for almost all her life. She was never nominated for acting despite of being able to act. This movie shows her capability as an actress. It is about Evelyn, a 60 year old laundry shop owner who is on the verge of bankruptcy, have an unhappy marriage had a bad relationship with her daughter. Suddenly a man who looks like her husband told her he is not her husband, he is a version of him from another dimension told her she is the only one who can save the multiverse. Then he gave her this device that will give her the skills of her versions from the multiverse. One of her version is an actress, A teppanyaki chef, A martial artist, scientist etc. She will use the skills of her other versions to save the Multiverse from a familiar evil that she knows.

It won a lot of Oscars and Golden Globes and it deserve all the awards. I am not a bandwagoner as if you search, I had been hyping this movie since 2021.

I haven't seen the movie yet, I read a little about it and I am curious to see it. As I haven't seen it I can't say if it deserved all the rewards but I believe it does. Yeoh won against big names like Cate Blanchett and Michelle Williams.

After the success of this movie, I am seeing a lot trailers for Asian American movies. We might get to see more Asian faces in Hollywood now.

I really liked that movie, and am planning to watch it again. I really wish this idea that people 'don't want to watch older women on screen' would go away. I love seeing female actors in their 40s, 50s and 60s (and older, theoretically, but everyone ages out of action movies eventually) still kicking arse on screen. Allison Janney (CJ from the West Wing) was terrific as an ex spy in Lou. More of that sort of thing, please!

This movie proves older actresses have other roles to play other than mom, grandma and cougar. Women stopped getting action roles the moment they over 40. Michelle Yeoh proven she can still kick butt and also finally shown she can do more than action since she had been boxed as action star her whole life.

I enjoy the movie but not all scenes. I don't enjoy the scene where there's a hotdog hand like it is not even possible or could there be a universe like that but over all it was entertaining.

I have not seen the movie yet. But Iam so happy that Michelle Yeoh was the first Asian to won an Oscar.

Whoever thought it was not marketable was obviously not keeping up. There are books and movies where the main character is a person in their 60s trying to get ready for retirement but getting called back into action. The characters are male and female. Somebody sure missed that money train!

For male characters, sure, but female characters that age in an action movie are still rare.

Ke Huy Quan is the most inspirational story out of this movie. He have no acting role for 20 years after Hollywood discriminated him. He also struggled to get roles in Asia. The moment he was given a chance he won Golden Globes, SAg-afra, People's choice, Critics Choice , etc and The Oscars.

I am glad the opportunity came knocking for him again as an adult. There are so many child stars who did not lose their talent once they grew up, but they never got the chance to show anybody. He got the chance and it really paid off for him. I love success stories.

I find out he tried acting in China and Taiwan but his Chinese is not that Good since he is vietnamese. He also tried acting in Japan with English lines. He didnt try a career in Vietnam since refugees are too afraid to return to Vietnam during those times.
