Miss Universe removes age limit

Postby Netherrealmer » 30 Nov 2023, 13:23

Before the pageant age limit is 18 to 28. If a winner got pregnant/married she will be disqualified.

In 2018 They allow transwoman compete.
In 2023, They allow Married women, Mothers and Plus sized women compete. I guess it has something to do with MILFS popularity and its their way to kill the "Mrs." pageants. Muslim women can now compete without wearing Bikinis... Miss Pakistan wore an Abaya and makes it to top 20

Now age limit is no more. Middle age women and grandmas can compete. In fact an actual grandmother competes in Miss Universe Ecuador.

The mentality is changing and so are the beauty standards. By changing the age limit, any woman can participate, because there is beauty at all ages.

Sounds like they're struggling with beauty pageants becoming increasingly irrelevant and unpopular in the modern world.

In the US/Canada/UK/New Zealand/Australia yes, but in South East Asia, Latin America,Africa, France and eastern Europe no as its like world cup to them. There is a growing interest in Middle east now because Muslim women can wear sports suits and Abayas in swimsuit. But yeah its their attempt to get US Audience back.

I love how Carmen Dell'Orefice is a renowned American model known for her long and successful career in the fashion industry. Age is nothing but a number.
I think she's 92.

She and Bahrain wore abayas in swimsuit. Indonesia and Egypt wear bikinis despite being muslims

How would a grandma expect to win such a competition when there are too many young hotties showcasing their stuff.

Well a teenager hasn't won for years. The last teen winner is from 2008 when they started heavily emphasizing Q and A. Teens and college girls lacking life experience made them struggle to Q and A.

Most winners now are 25 to 28. With the occasional early 20s. I think MILFs have a shot though, Knowing their current popularity.

I love that they are embracing inclusivity. And if ab milf is deserving to win, they should maintain integrity and give it to her.

I thinks 40s can do well as we now have 40 year olds who looks young. Milfs are very popular right now
But right now we will have Grandmas compete...

Grandmas... I dont think they can win their local pageants

I think the previous age restrictions in the miss universe unfairly excluded women who might have had very strong perspectives just because they were older than the age limits. I think the removal of that age restriction is in line.

Are they going to be given options to use flats and blocky heels because of arthritis?

Update granny number 1 lost because arthritis ruins her runway

I often wonder why they even put the age restrictions at the first instance. I thought it was marginalisation of some sort.

Back then Miss Universe was owned by Catalina Swimsuits, its made to sell bikinis. Then Donald Trump evolved it too by adding Q and A and charities. Now the new Owner want it to be inclusive.
