Well another one of my favorite South Korean actors has passed away. He was only 39 years old.

I know we depart this life sooner or later. But it seems like many of the South Korean celebrities leave way soon!

Even though it happens frequently, Song Jae-lim's death caught me completely off guard. I really liked this guy.

There is something about that culture. Many commit suicide. But some have serious illnesses too. They have not disclosed the cause of death for Song Jae-lim.

I just finished watching this guy in "Military Valentine".

At first, I thought it was a hoax. You know how they sometimes do those death hoaxes (which are not funny). But this is real and kind of scary and sad since he was found all alone. If it wasn't a suicide, then you wonder if, in his last moments, he called out to someone. At least, I always think that.

My late husband did not cry out. He just closed his eyes as if he was going to sleep and he left.

Bullying? If I go by the Kdramas it seems the bullying starts in school and carries over into adult life.

Also, you're right about the fans. They can be brutal. Some fans are totally detached from reality. They set up this ridiculous "ideal" in their mind and expect the celebrity to live up to it.

Look how Korean media treats T.O.P because of his almost a decade old marijuana scandal. They are still destroying him while international media praises his performance as Thanos in Squid game. Hope he gets a Hollywood break, He can speak English and AMericans loved him as Thanos. He is good as a Psycho funny villain. DCU should consider him as next Joker.

I once watched a short documentary about Korean celebrities and the pressure they are put under. They basically live, eat, breathe and sleep their jobs and the industry starts training them for stardom at an insanely early age. It's very toxic and certainly not sustainable.

When you fall from grace, it's over! There was a Korean actor I really liked but he got blacklisted for drug abuse. I kept hoping he would make it back, but there was no forgiveness for sins. Now I just have to watch the Kdramas he was in before his trouble happened. That guy was such a good actor. He's not the only one that fell from grace.

Sadly if they don't fall from grace, they commit suicide. There are several actors I really liked and the next thing I know they're publishing their obituary. Just the other day this guy was only 39 years old and they were reporting his death. I'm like: Are you kidding me? I just saw him in a recent Kdrama! Recent like 2024!!

He acted his heart and soul for this role.

I think early fame, high pressure life, irregular working hours and diet and relationship issues could be a big factor.
We see these factors highly prevalent in Bollywood as well.

Bollywood I think is more forgiving. I mean they forgave an actor who was abusive to his girlfriend and they embraced Sunny Leoni who was known for Lesbian porn.
