The Rock on his very 1st White Role.

Postby Netherrealmer » 30 Apr 2025, 01:15

The Rock is Half Black and Half Samoan but he will be playing the role of a white guy on the Biopic of Mike Kerr. He is of Irish and Puerto Rican descent. A fighter who becomes famous MMA fighter during the 90s. His life story got adapted into a movie. The Rock will be playing it. They use a lot of make up to make The Rock look like a tanned skin white guy and cover his tattoos. Both the The Rock and Kerr are mixed race but Kerr is very White passing.

Why he accepted this role? Well people keep saying he is a 1 note actor. He have speech and accent lessons for this movie to make him sound like a white guy.

This is off-putting.
I am not in support of filmmakers' obsession with Caucasians.
This is an after-effect of colonialism.

I am ashamed of The Rock for accepting this role. It reeks if esteem issues. And it is very demeaning for the black race.

The Rock identifies more as Samoan though. I mean helped all his Samoan cousins to be in WWE but none of his Black cousins

At the end of the day it's his job and once he gets paid for doing it he moves on.

Wow, that's weird! I mean, we can all see The Rock is not at all white. Why not just cast a white actor?? He's not the first actr to do it. Countless white actors have been cast in black roles for a long time. I remember watching a movie called Soul Man years ago and even as a child, I found it an uncomfortable watch. I don't like it period.

He doesn't even look white  I mean seriously, if you saw someone looking like him, you'd be more inclined to wonder about his ethnicity because he looks more mixed race than any one race. You wouldn't readily think he's white

Under Samoan features, you think on his tatoos? I think bigger change is his haircut.

Should he have turned down the role that he was perfect fit for? The movie is adapted from the life story if a white person and he had to step into the main character's role as real as it could be.

Editors could choose other white man for this role. He is not only one with muscles on scene.
