During the 90s, there is a horror movie titled Single White Female. It's about a woman who got a roommate. She thought that this roommate is the best roommate ever, that she's going to have a new best friend, not knowing that her roommate is actually a psycho. And it became a huge hit back then.



Then in late 2010s, we got a remake titled Single Black female, Same plot but with plus sized black women.
This remake actually managed to have two sequels.



Now another remake is on the horizon, and it's titled Single Female. There's no more ethnicity anymore because in this new remake, the story is between a Latina and a light-skinned black woman. It stars Terry Russell and Jenna Ortega, and I don't know what direction this franchise will go to after this LOL.

They don't really have anything new, hence they mostly do remakes. Anyways let's hope the remake will be good though.

I think the second remake existed because Jenna Ortega and Perry Russell, even though they are Latina and light-skinned black woman, they kind of resemble each other, and the villain in the original and the first remake is trying to steal the identity of the main character by copying her haircut and dressing like her.

Yea they do look alike to some extent though. Anyways hope it will be a good movie.

Remakes of hit movies, either become a big hit or just fall flat on the box office. With changing times, societies change and the hit story from old times can have a good remake with new things added to it with changing times. The younger population would relate to it in current times. But if the movie fails to meet the expectations of the audience, it can be a big flop. Earlier hits raise the bar of expectations.. let's see how this one does.

This is the original plot of the original movie. A woman, a career woman with a boyfriend, wants to have a new roommate, so she made an advertisement, Wanted Single White Female. And out of the women who applied to become her roommate, she chose the most timid one. And at first, she thought that she had the perfect roommate, they became friends. Then suddenly, her new roommate copies her hairstyle, copies her fashion, and to make it worse, tries to seduce her boyfriend. And things have gone to horror territory. The black remake also did the same plot of, you know, the roommate trying to steal her identity and her life. So I don't know how will they do the third remake, especially it's now interracial. But despite of having different ethnicities, you know, the third remake actresses kind of resembles each other, which is the point of the movie, because the roommate tries to steal the identity of the main character.

Huh. I enjoyed the original film but I'd never heard of the remake. I'll probably watch the new one. Terry Russell was really good in Bones and All.
