Ready Or Not 2

Postby Jem Smith » 05 Apr 2026, 07:27

I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. It's the sequel to Ready Or Not and stars Samara Weaving and Kathryn Newton (from 'Abigail'), and also has Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Elijah Wood.

It the first movie, Grace (Samara Weaving) married into the wealthy Le Domas family. On her wedding night she was told she had to pull a card from a deck that would have the name of game she had to play to become part of the family. She pulled 'hide and seek', which meant that the family would hunt her down and try to kill her. If she stayed alive until dawn she'd win and they'd die instead.

Obviously she survives since she's in the sequel. The second film is even funnier and bloodier than the first. It's a very dark comedy and I recommend it if you like that sort of thing.

She was a villain in Cruel Intentions (1999) too back when she was still in Buffy.

She's very good in this one.

The title suggests that it is some kind of reality show.

That one is good. I think it's a Netflix. It's about a bride who find out that her husband is a member of a cult that sacrifices spouses based on lottery. Basically, there is a lottery on the member of his family that keeps them rich and powerful. There is a draw that if she got it, she will become a member of the cult. She's safe. But there is a draw that if she ends up with it, the whole family will try to hunt her and kill her, like a hide and seek game.
[+] Spoiler
And if they manage to kill her before morning, they will become more rich and powerful. But if they fail to kill her before morning, they will all melt.

No, not a reality show. It's a secret Satanic cult thing.

That's not how it works. They don't choose a member of the family to sacrifice their spouse based on a lottery. EVERY new person who marries into the family chooses a card on their wedding night (not really a lottery, literally just picking a card from a box- a lottery would involve multiple people, this is just one), then they may get the bad card where they have to play for their life or they may not. Most people marry into the family knowing what to expect ahead of time because they either come from another family who does the same thing or their fiance explains it to them, but Grace didn't know because she's an outsider and her fiance didn't tell her. As I said, she got hide and seek, so they have to hunt her and try to kill her before morning or they will all die. They don't melt. They explode. I take it you haven't seen the movie.

Not a Netflix production, it had a pretty wide cinema release, but it was on Netflix at one point, no longer is here in Australia but maybe elsewhere.

I finally watch the first part and the second one last week and i honestly enjoyed the movie. Though i enjoyed part one more when she was the only fighting for her life. But part two was still fun to watch.
