Manga Live Action Movies?

Postby cessy_08 » 10 Jul 2015, 10:19

Hi guys! Just wanted to know if anybody here are into watching live action movies? I am an anime and manga fan and enjoy a number of live action films. Recently I watched the Kyoto Inferno, the second installment of the Rurouni Kenshin movie. Have you guys watched this movie as well? Or have you watched other live action films that you can recommend?

I've seen both Death Note live action adaptations and they were pretty good. Haven't seen L spinoff yet but it looks pretty silly. Ichi Tthe Killer was interesting and pretty disturbing movie. Haven't read the manga to compare. Junji Ito's Uzumaki is brilliant manga but the live action covered barely 20% of the story and it didn't do it very well. It had some cool visuals but can't recommend it. Uzumaki would work much better as a mini series but actually it would be probably for the best to just leave it alone. Dragon Ball Evolution was just terrible and Edge of Tomorrow was a great surprise and probably the best live action manga movie ever made. Kenshin is on my list of movies to watch and there's Attack On Titan live action coming. I've heard GTO is quite good too...

Oh yes, NANA! I loved that movie and loved the songs, too! Did you see the two films for that manga or just the first one?

The poster itself looks disturbing I am not sure if I would like to watch this movie! Thanks for sharing anyway. I will keep this on my list and see if I will have the courage in the future to watch it.

Forgot about live action Detroit Metal City which was quite good. It's a hilarious comedy about a shy boy who wants to become a pop singer but ends up in a metal band instead where he develops a crazy alter ego. The humor can be quite vulgar but it's a bit toned down for the movie as opposed to anime and manga.

Just noticed that Kenichi Matsuyama stars in every anime adaptation ever :D
Death Note movies, Kenshin, Detroit Metal City and who knows what else...

I watched this, too! It was so funny I think I watched it three times already. Although I didn't know that he was included in the cast for Kenshin. Which role did he play in that film?

You are right, just checked IMDb. I could swear I've heard he's in but I mixed it up with something else. Haven't seen live action Kenshin yet but I wanted to see it for a while.
