What work looks like

Postby Fergal » 28 Oct 2022, 05:54

Sometimes when I am trying to figure out a technical issue for work, I spend far too long sitting at my desk, going round in circles, without coming up with a good solution. Other times (not often enough) I will go for a walk or do some household chore, then when I go back to my desk the problem doesn't seem so difficult at all and I have an easy solution for it.

This relatively short blog post, explains someone else's experience of this process very well: https://blog.jim-nielsen.com/2022/what-work-looks-like/

I recently resigned from my work online and am currently looking for a new position. My time working for the prior company has been bitter-sweet. They merely lack the knowledge necessary to treat their workers well.

In fact that's very effective and I can vouch for that. When I feel quite overwhelmed with any problem, be it at work or in personal life, I just walk away from it for a while to finish some chores or just go for a walk or listen to the music. It helps me get distracted and takes the burden off my mind. I come back rejuvenated and more ready to think of solutions with a fresh mind.
Enjoyed the blog. Loved the way he has talked about collaboration in Business.
