Re: What are you having for dinner tonight?

Postby spiderdust » 24 Jun 2017, 22:39

I was reminded of this thread again recently (can you believe I forgot about my own topic?) and like @sprite1950 said, it really is a good place to look through for dinner ideas!

Tonight we're having 10 Minute Beef Teriyaki, which is a recipe I found on Pinterest (here's the link if you're interested http://www.theseasonedmom.com/10-minute-beef-teriyaki-skillet/). I'm serving it with rice and rainbow chard leaves and tortillas... people can choose if they want it on top of rice or in a wrap (the GF ones can use the chard leaves). I'm also adding some extra grated vegetables to the meat when I brown it, just to make it a more rounded meal.

I had a movie date night tonight (whoo! don't get those very often) and we went out for Chinese afterward at a restaurant that's been around since 1925. This is American Chinese cuisine, and not authentically Chinese at all, but it's still very good and the kind that I grew up eating. They actually have chop suey on the menu! This place has a lot of character, with red and gold flocked wallpaper and black lacquered partitioned dining areas with beaded curtains. It has the decor of stereotypical restaurant that you'd see in a spy movie from the 1970s.

I ordered almond chicken, and Otto ordered sweet & sour pork with pork fried rice. It was all very delicious and fresh.

The time here is 11 am and I just got in from work....yes, I'm back on that dreaded morning shift **deep sigh**. I can't really be bothered to think about what to prepare for dinner at the moment, but I think it's likely to be something I can make very quickly like eggs, bacon and salad. A weird choice but it fills the hole and saves time :)

We had some fantastic barbecue over the holiday. My husband did a great job. I'm hoping I can talk him into making some more, but I'll likely have to wait until the weekend. I'll have him do up extra this time. :D

I will probably stick to something simple like salad for tonight. I made some homemade blue cheese dressing that turned out even better than usual, so I'm kind of craving more of that as well.

I decided to make somethign silly. I decided to add some veggie meat and tofu on my beef stew.LOL vegan food with actual meat. The mock meats absorbs the flavor of the beef well.
