I never happened to see this before, but I encountered this video of a segment of an old US David Letterman show on youtube. He was a late night entertainment talk show host for something around 20 years, and would regularly use telephone books from around the US to call people at random to ask "how's the weather?" just for the comedy. (Obviously an old show from back when we still even had telephone books)
